Comparison
Archi vs SourceForge
Archi lands on Worth it, and SourceForge lands on Depends.
SourceForge
Depends
Confidence: Medium
Reasonable as a secondary demand-gen directory for B2B software vendors; expect opaque pricing and lingering trust issues.
| Compare | Archi | SourceForge |
|---|---|---|
| Verdict | Worth it | Depends |
| Best for | Enterprise architects modelling in ArchiMate | B2B software vendors wanting extra demand-gen listings |
| Who it's not for | Teams wanting real-time, web-based multi-user editing | Teams needing active code hosting and collaboration |
| Privacy | One medium-severity CVE (CVSS 6.5) on record; code is open source and releases are code-signed.⁷ | Checkered history: 2015 breach reset 2M passwords; platform repeatedly abused as a malware delivery vector. |
| Support quality | Forum and GitHub issues only, no SLA | No usable evidence |
| Public sentiment | EA practitioners on Reddit and Gartner Peer repeatedly recommend Archi as the go-to free ArchiMate tool, though formal review counts are tiny.¹ | Opinions are split: some longtime users report safe, reliable downloads while others cite the adware history and lingering trust concerns. |
| Biggest gotcha | No vendor support . help comes from forum and GitHub issues only | Attackers have repeatedly abused the platform to deliver malware |
