Citymapper versus Tripadvisor
Compare	Citymapper	Tripadvisor
Verdict	Depends	Depends
Best for	Commuters in covered cities like London and NYC	Budget travelers comparing hotels
Who it's not for	Drivers, this app is transit-first	Travelers wanting expert-picked luxury stays
Privacy	Android app scans show no open CVEs; no Citymapper-attributed breaches found, though TfL's 2024 cyberattack disrupted its London data feeds.¹⁰	No public CVEs found in Tripadvisor itself.
Support quality	Reddit bug threads; little visible response	Forum-based support; users report unresolved issues
Public sentiment	Long-time fans call it the best big-city transit planner, but recent reviews flag bugs, stale real-time data, and decline since the Via acquisition.^¹	Long-time users still consult Tripadvisor, but Reddit threads increasingly question review reliability and site relevance.
Biggest gotcha	Collects detailed location history; read the privacy policy before enabling always-on tracking¹¹	Bookings carry commissions and add a middleman; users report bad bookings
