Toprut Review

Should I use Toprut?

Draw odds and application research for western big-game hunters - toprut.com

Toprut no longer sells standalone; its draw-odds data now ships only inside onX Elite ($99/yr). Buy that bundle if you want onX maps anyway; skip it if you just need odds your state publishes free.

Medium. Based on 13 public sources: hunting forums, onX official pages, and outdoor news.

  • Hunters expecting the old standalone Toprut product
  • Single-state applicants, state agencies often publish odds free

Gotchas - check before you buy

high

Toprut brand is effectively retired; features moved into onX Hunt Research Tools with a different interface.

medium

Toprut features require the $99/yr Elite tier, not cheaper onX Premium.

medium

Post-acquisition odds-integration complaints; some longtime subscribers canceled.

low

Several states publish draw odds free; the paid tool can be redundant.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Longtime users call it the most accurate draw-odds data available
  • Included with onX Elite at no extra cost
  • Draw-odds calculators estimate years-to-draw for target units
  • Called 'a no brainer for anyone semi serious' about western hunting

Cons

  • Cannot buy Toprut standalone anymore; requires onX Elite membership
  • OnX's replacement research tools widely panned by former Toprut users
  • Some users left over broken odds integration, switching to GoHunt
