Who it's not for	Anyone shopping for software . it is not a product	B2B validation . reviewers say G2 analysis is 10x better
Privacy	No known public vulnerabilities found in the sources reviewed.¹¹	Two known breaches (2018, 2023) and a removed warrant canary; no security page found.¹⁶
Support quality	Community-run, no official support channel	1.2/5 Trustpilot; account-access complaints
Public sentiment	Users see HN as a free, high-signal but slow, niche tech community that can turn pedantic and hostile.^⁴	Users value Reddit's candid communities but rate the company itself poorly and remain angry about 2023 API pricing.¹⁵
Biggest gotcha	Self-promotion is heavily policed; marketing posts get flagged and visibility dies fast^⁹	2023 API repricing killed apps like Apollo overnight . paid API costs can spike unpredictably
