| Verdict | Worth it | Depends |
| Best for | First-time buyers researching expensive gear | Ultralight gear obsessives |
| Who it's not for | Software buyers . it's a blog, not a tool | Casual hikers . free Reddit, YouTube, and guides suffice |
| Privacy | No known public vulnerabilities found in the sources reviewed.11 | No known breaches or recent vulnerabilities; only dated forum reports (SSL lapse 2016, spam 2012) and no public security page. |
| Support quality | Editorial media site; no support model | Reddit reports unanswered emails; status questioned |
| Public sentiment | Reddit gear communities repeatedly name it when comparing review sites, though some users note editorial picks diverge from community consensus.⁴ | Reddit sentiment is mixed: longtime ultralight hikers know and use the site, while recent threads question membership value and whether it is still operating.16 |
| Biggest gotcha | It earns a commission when you buy via its links . compare retail prices yourself⁷ | .au is a separate Australian retailer . verify the domain before buying or reading reviews. |
